I heart dictionaries.
I specifically love dictionary.com,
because a simple search will trigger my thoughts into a direction for what
I am trying to convey.
There. I said it. I admitted that as a writer, I use tools.
Some believe that we should allow these words to spill from our heart and mind,
out our upper limbs, through pen & ink and onto paper, or in our modern day
case-----fingertip to keyboard to screen.
However it’s done, writing requires a muse. And as I've recently discovered (thanks to many sources), we must court her. Court your
muse. She is always there, but she needs romance. She needs to be beckoned, use
all of your intent on her. The environment for romancing her must be
achieved….and then she will open up.
Relaxed, warm and
inviting my environment lures my muse to me.
Now that I’ve made this discovery, I have no excuse but to
create moments to write more often. What a silly girl I’ve been, to blame it
all on having no time, or being deficient of inspiration, or self-deprecating
thoughts of lacking talent or ambition. There is no reason why I can not or
should not write, draw, journal or paint more often.
So what does a girl like me do in this situation?
Create the time.
Create the space.
Seduce the muse.
And then….
Write. Draw. Journal. And Paint.
Oh, and today’s word of the day that has been floating
around in my thoughts, and somehow helped me to romance my muse for today. So
fitting…it’s as if my muse knows me well:
